How to remove meta / blogroll widget?

18 Oct

When i started this blog i found meta/blogroll widget in the side bar.  I tried removing by dragging and placing the Meta widget into Inactive Widgets area and searched for Blogroll widget but couldn’t find it in Available widgets. Then googled for sometime and no use :( .  The reason for this is both the widgets are coded in sidebar.php.

<li><h2>Meta</h2>
<ul>
<li><?php wp_register('', ''); ?></li>
<li><?php wp_loginout(); ?></li>
<li><a href="<?php bloginfo('rss2_url'); ?>">Entries RSS</a></li>
<li><a href="<?php bloginfo('comments_rss2_url'); ?>">Comments RSS</a></li>
<li><a href="http://wordpress.org/">WordPress.org</a></li>
</ul>
</li>

<li><h2>Blogroll</h2>
<ul>
<?php wp_list_bookmarks('title_li=&categorize=0'); ?>
</ul>
</li>

So, if u dont want those widgets go to Appearance > Editor then select sidebar.php and check for the above code and remove it and update the file. If your theme has 2-3 sidebar.php file then check in all those files.  Now view your site you can see those widgets  vanished ;)

16 Oct

You can now know it easily if you have a Firefox browser. Install Colorzilla plugin for Firefox. After installing you can find a small eye dropper icon in the status bar.

When you want to know the color of a particular content in a web  page click the eye dropper icon and hover the mouse over the content. Instantly the color code both in RGB and Hexadecimal will be shown next to the eye dropper icon. Along with the color code you can see the tag name too :) .
